About CSMIA Cargo
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has developed technologically advanced cargo facilities since 2006, almost doubling cargo-handling capacity. By streamlining processes and reducing delays, CSMIA has become one of India’s top air cargo-handling airports.
Mumbai Airport handled a record 0.96 million metric tons of cargo in FY19 and will handle estimated 0.89 metric tons in FY25. CSMIA continues to improve infrastructure, expand connectivity, and adopt digital solutions to support India’s growing logistics sector.
Cargo Management System
CSMIA introduced AMAX (Adani MIAL Air Exchange) - India's first air cargo community platform – in 2013. This secure, web-based system connects airports, cargo handlers, freight forwarders, customs, airlines, and other stakeholder AMAX streamlines cargo processes, improves coordination, and enhances efficiency, making air cargo management faster and more organised.
Key Features of AMAX:
- Digital Documentation: AMAX simplifies cargo processing with a single digital platform, improving visibility and coordination across the supply chain.
- Paperless Import Process (D-Cube): The D-Cube feature enables contactless import operations, reducing paperwork and limiting manual intervention for smoother processes.
- Customised Features: The platform supports shipment tracking, carting order approvals, payment processing for cargo handling fees, and a paperless truck scheduling system for dock access.
- E-Freight Initiatives: CSMIA is a leader in India’s air cargo e-Freight system and is accredited by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as an e-Freight compliant station. By minimising the use of paper and physical documentation, AMAX makes cargo handling smoother, more efficient, and environmentally friendly, supporting CSMIA’s commitment to a digital and sustainable future.
- Cargo Mobile Application: CSMIA launched the Cargo Mobile App, improving cargo operations with real-time tracking. This user-friendly platform gives stakeholders instant updates on air cargo status, enabling transparency, efficiency, and convenience. Users can track shipments from entry to Export General Manifest (EGM), Import General Manifest (IGM), and final delivery, enabling informed decisions anytime, anywhere.
